The Ghana Tourism Authority has completed a food court close to the paragliding take-off point on the Odweanoma mountain to provide more comfort for numerous patrons who will grace this year’s Kwahu Easter paragliding festival in April, 2019.

The food court which is part of numerous construction projects being undertaken by the Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts are aimed at face-lifting the famous paragliding site to improve and promote culture and tourism in the country.

In addition to the food court, children’s playground is also currently under construction to provide peaceful safe grounds for kids who will be accompanying their parents to enjoy themselves and have fun.

Mr Kwasi Agyemang the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority who disclosed this to Citi News on the sidelines of the media launch of the 2019 paragliding festival at Mpraeso assured of governments commitment to improving tourism in the country.

“We have done some expansion works at the site, we have opened a food court and brought it close to the take-off point. Previously we used to have the food court about 200 meters away from the take-off point but now we have done some beautiful construction so those who want to sit down and eat something as they enjoy music can also get the opportunity to see people take off”.

“We are also going to have children’s playing area where kids who come with their parents can comfortably hang around to play. And there are still some construction works ongoing to have an area for bouncy castles, game areas for the children to enjoy. When you are up to the mountain and not even flying the view up the mountain is very attractive so we are encouraging a lot of people to climb this year and we believe that if the roads are constructed people can use bicycles to hike and a lot of taxi’s can also ply the road”.

“We are going to provide the necessary atmosphere and ambience for our patrons this year, there are other exciting things apart from paragliding. There will be good live band music, food, games and competitions we are going to run here, we have a lot of corporate partners who are going to give packages and gifts to patrons who will be part of this year’s paragliding festival”.

The Eastern Regional Tourism Authority, Manager Frederick Adjei-Rudolph, who supervised the construction works at the site also promised to bring on board more innovative projects to enhance visitors comfort at the site.

“This project is among the innovative constructions we have undertaken as an authority with a sole aim of improving and enhancing tourism in this country, we have constructed a permanent pavilion, standard comfortable washing rooms, designated car parks and now the new food court”.

“This paragliding festival has come to stay so whatever needs to be done to enhance visitor comfort must be done and we are poised to come out with more innovative ideas and projects to put smiles on the faces of every visitor who comes up here. It is the vision of the sector minister and the CEO of the tourism authority who have been working tirelessly to ensure patrons get the best of quality services.”

Frederick Adjei-Rudolph also called on the general public especially patrons to use the facilities appropriately to ensure they last longer.

“Now we do not have to go rent canopies in town and move them up the mountain to mount for patrons again which sometimes are blown away by the wind, I will use this opportunity to advise patrons to use the facilities appropriately in a manner that will last long for others to enjoy in future”.
